The blue fish of Tarragona was the first to receive with Quality Mark (QM) from all over the Mediterranean. They have this mark, with the minimum authorized measures: sardine and horse mackerel 12 cm, mackerel and anchovy 11 cm, among others. In order to receive the QM,  the fish must be captured with night fencing of a length of less than 300 m, not counting the puños fists, of about 15 m each. To guarantee the maximum quality of the prey, the fish remains alive until the moment of its packaging with crushed ice. All catches are mainly concentrated in Sant Jordi Gulf and nearby areas.
