The beginning of the Tarragona denomination coincides with the implantation of the vineyard pushed by the Roman Empire. Already then the territories of `Tarraconense´ province were distinguished by their wines, considered of the most qualified of the Roman Empire. Although white, soft, fruity and low-acid wines predominate, there are also warm, light and low-grade red ones. Lately, the rosés are taking centre stage and coexist with liqueur and rancid wines, such as the Tarragona Clàssic and the mass wine, which have lasted through the centuries.
