GR7, etapa 20: Tivissa - Rasquera
To start Stage 20 of the GR 7 in the town of Tivissa, edging round the town we find a street that rises up on the left hand side towards on old path.
Further ahead, it turns into a concrete path and we descend until meeting some rock climbing walls. Leaving this area behind, we carry on down until crossing the Barranc de Sant Blai ravine. The route then ascends to a chapel of the same name and we continue to climb along the concrete path until meeting the Coll del Ventall further ahead. There, the GR 7 starts to descend, skirting along the mountainside on a trail that follows the Camí del Perelló.
On the left hand side are views of the Tossal de Pen, whilst down below we see the Rasquera valley, from which we will continue on the most advanced part of the stage. At this point of the GR 7 we enter the Tivissa and Vandellós Natural Park, where we start a descent into a dry ravine. Once we have crossed the ravine, the trail goes under a high voltage power line and leads to the Mas de Andreu.
The GR 7 then ascends, via the Camí del Perelló, in the direction of Coll Roig, before reaching Mas de Biscorn and then abandoning the path in order to cross the d’Escalers stream. From there, the trail climbs up through a pine tree forest and, after a few bends, arrives at the entrance of Mas de Simonet, an area made up of vegetable gardens, olive trees and almond trees.
The GR 7 then abandons the trail in favour of the Camí de Biscorn path to the right, eventually arriving at watercourse in the Barranc de Riera. We follow it for a few metres before abandoning it on the left to find along the way the Mas del Comte. We then take another trail that leads us to the TV-3022 road. The trail then comes level with Km. 18 of the road, just a few steps away from the entrance to Rasquera, the last stop on Stage 20 of the GR 7.
