Itinerari El Marturi

The Els Ports relief is very steep and abrupt with some surprisingly wayward shapes. The route takes us to the summits of El Marturi and El Embarronat de Carlares, geological formations with imposing vertical walls.

The route starts with a pronounced ascent up to Els Bassis del Marturi, from where the trail glides between forests filled with Scots and Pyrenean pines and European beeches indicating that we are passing through the Partial Natural Reserve of Les Fagedes dels Ports. When the forests clear, we are rewarded for our efforts in climbing up, with panoramic views that begin at El Montaspre in Alfara de Carles, all the way to the Barranc del Regatxol-Ulldemó and taking in the majestic summits of Mont Caro and La Mola de Catí.
