Itinerari El Mas de Barró

Amidst evergreen oaks, pine trees, Italian maples (Acer opalus subsp. Granatensis) and common holly (Illex aquifolium), we arrive at the Mas de Barró, today in ruins. We continue in order to enjoy the best perspective of Les Faixes, a landscape of forests and sheer rock faces which are especially striking in autumn when the area’s beech plants (Fagus sylvativa) turn different shades of ochre. Before starting our descent along the old Casetes Velles path towards La Vall, we pass the Font del Paradis, a moist spot where the water shoots out naturally and is collected in a wooden pond in which the common midwife toad is bred (Alytes obstetricans).
